Patrick hated everything that Jason stood for and Sam defended on many occasions. And now they are supposed to be pouring their hearts out lespark to each other. Franco/Carly, Michael betraying his brother when loyalty was the most important thing that Jason/Sonny ever taught them.
Patrick tells Sam and Jason that the baby died of respiratory failure, and had a serious blood condition called hemophilia. When Jason asks if he died because he didn’t make it to the hospital, Patrick isn’t sure they would have been able to help him. Sam and Jason realize it’s not either of their faults that “her son” died. A month later while on a stakeout with Spinelli, Sam begins to suffer from stomach cramps and even though she protested, Spinelli insisted that she see a doctor and took her to the hospital. When the hostage situation is resolved, Robin comes back with Sam’s test results and breaks the news that she isn’t pregnant and the cramping was just some expected after effects of the surgery.

The show celebrated its 50th anniversary on April 1, 2013, and its 15,000th episode on June 22, 2022. In April 2016, it was revealed that McCullough was to briefly return for The Nurses’ Ball, first appearing on May 9 and departing on May 27. Later the same year, it was announced McCullough would again reprise the role, first appearing on October 27 and departing on November 1. She later reprised the role for another short guest arc, appearing from December 28, 2016, to January 19, 2017. On July 16, 2012, Soap Opera Digest announced that McCullough would return to the series for a series of guest spots.

On April 6, 2020, Sam officially broke up with Jason, when he decided to end things in order to keep his family safe from the brewing mob war between the Corinthos mob family and Cyrus. In August 2020, Sam was let off of parole after a deal she made with Valentin, giving him the proxy of her children’s ELQ shares. She and Jason were finally free to be together now, but with the impending mob war, Sam became increasing concerned about her children’s safety. In November 2020, when the Floating Rib bar exploded, Sam was terrified and unable to cope. On December 9, 2020, Sam tells Jason her fears and says that she has to end her relationship with him after nearly 20 years. She asks him not to come back home to their penthouse after he leaves, which makes Jason upset and initially he fights her on it, but relents not wanting to make things any harder.
A delivery interrupts them and Sam is shocked that Jason picked out the same two photos for his new place that previously sat on the mantle of his old penthouse for years. They talk more about his memories and Jason expresses frustration that he can remember the small things like a photo, but not the larger more important things. Both agree they want to move forward in their relationship and Sam suggests getting a divorce. At first Jason is resistant, but Sam explains that she thinks a divorce would be best so they could start fresh without the pressure of the past and he finally agrees. They meet Alexis at Kelly’s a few days later and sign the paperwork, finalizing the divorce.
Sam has another paternity test run, and is devastated when it says that Franco is the father of her baby. She tells Jason, and the two of them start to drift apart trying to deal this news. While they’re separated, Sam gives birth to a baby boy during a rainstorm.

GH writers have already been laying the groundwork for a potential Britt and Jason pairing, so that takes care of things on his end.
He became unconscious in the water and Sam dived in and rescued him. Over the following months, they work to free Kristina from dangerous cult leader David Henry Archer aka Shiloh. She was later released on parole, but her parole terms dictated that she must stay away from any convicted felons, including Jason. This caused another unofficial separation from Jason, but they continued to meet in secret. In November 2017, while in an exclusive Russian clinic, Ava Jerome is seeking help for her severe facial burns. While there she meets Patient 6, who bears a striking resemblance to Jason Morgan’s original face.
Liz learns that Pif has suggested to the GH hospital board that despite the mistakes she had made, that Liz become the head nurse at the hospital. Elizabeth is overcome in a beautifully-played moment by Becky Herbst. In July, Sam did hear from Michael that Jason and Carly are getting married. So Sam decided to have a friendly talk with Elizabeth, by having Sam burn away Jason’s Dominoes and Tequila.
The doctor tells Sam that since she was with Jason in Greece, she would need to be tested as well. If she contracted malaria, it could cause complications for her pregnancy. Sam and Jason are both tested and the results of both their tests show no signs of malaria, however, Dr. Finn runs a second test to be sure.
Jason is there to support Sam when she recovers, and she accepts his offer to return, and stay with him. Sam has a paternity test that showed neither Jax or Sonny was the father. Jason and Sonny tell Sam that Jason tampered with the test, and the child is Sonny’s.
Eventually, Sam relents and tells Jason that she is pregnant and Jason is ecstatic. Later, they get a call from Dr. Finn telling them that both tests conclude Sam and the baby are malaria free. Knowing that the PCPD would try to pin the crime on him once they got the slightest shred of evidence, Jason decides to figure out what truly happened to Nikolas.
Sam was initially jealous of Brenda, but Jason assured her that he loved her. Determined to get Brenda out of the penthouse quickly, Sam and Jason began searching for the Balkan. In Fall 2008, former ABC Daytime president, Brian Frons began hinting that more Sam and Jason interaction would occur in the future, because the audience wanted to see more of that. During the lockdown, Elizabeth ran into the hospital with Jake after being in a house fire.
