Mermaids and gator shifters swim in the bayou. Spirit bottles light the front porches after twilight. Dragons light the fires under crayfish pots. Jillian’s first assignment for the League could be her last. Mystic Bayou is wary of outsiders, and she has difficulty getting locals to talk to her. And she can’t get the gruff town sheriff, Bael Boone, off of her back or out of her mind.
You’ve reached the maximum number of titles you can currently recommend for purchase. Silas is a dragon whose lands are plagued with illness and a curse. I also didn’t like certain areas about the queen and king’s relationship to Gwennore. For me it was just a bit to convenient. I would’ve liked the confrontation between the king & the villain to have a bit more detail. Like really really loved this book, but I can see how others might have issues with it.

Silas finds he is quickly falling for her and she him. The Chameleon is back and causing trouble. We get to meet new and interesting characters who teach us to not judge, to listen and to learn from those who have been around. The story is well written and loaded with lots of drama, passion, angst, action, adventure, and dragons. They are taken to the realm of the dragons and the people who live in this hidden kingdom.

If the two kings succeeded in frightening the dragon enough that it released Eviana, she would fall, and it would be dangerous for her to fall more than a few feet. The dragon rose high enough for her to gain her footing. A sudden blast of wind shoved the dragon to the side, causing it to collide with her and knock her back down. That had to be Brigitta’s husband, using his wind power to attack. A bolt of lightning struck the ground just as the dragon rose in the air.
And a tall and handsome stranger would love her for who she was. A month ago, Luciana had planned an elaborate ball at Ebton Palace. Noblemen had flocked around Sorcha and Maeve, as well they should, since they were both beautiful young women. Usually at these events, the only men willing to dance with Gwennore were Luciana’s friends Brody and the newly promoted Colonel Nevis Harden. But Nevis was usually away with the army, and Brody was a shifter, who could take human form for only two hours a day.

There is a romance but it doesn’t overshadow the plot either. This balance left room for the secondary characters to thrive and gain depth. There were a couple of slightly cheesy scenes that seemed a bit out of place and random; but not terrible. It’s the only reason I brought the rating down half a star. The book can mostly be read as a standalone, but I would strongly suggest reading the series in order.

It would be a beautiful world, filled with wonder and excitement.
But there’s a catch Silas needs Gwennore’s help and he wants her for himself. With Norveshki is turmoil Gwen agrees but the more time she spends with Silas the harder it is to deny her feeling and stop his advances. This is the third book in The Embraced Series. I’ve read every book in this series and would highly recommend reading them in order. This author’s books are seriously addictive, captivating, funny and action packed. The main characters, Gwennore & Silas, were fun to read about.
